Gift Card Privacy Notice

How NewStar LTD uses and protects information in the Kingpin Gift Card service.

Information we collect

We collect the recipient's name and email address, an optional gift message, card delivery status, point-of-sale receipt reference, card balance and transaction history. Security records may include IP address, browser information, login and audit events. Card numbers and QR credentials are encrypted; PINs are stored as one-way password hashes.

How we use it

We use this information to issue and deliver cards, display balances, process redemptions and approved refunds, prevent duplicate or unauthorized use, support replacement cards, reconcile the financial ledger and investigate disputes. Gift card delivery information is not added to a marketing list by this service.

Wallet providers

If you choose Apple Wallet or Google Wallet, the information needed to create and update the pass is also handled by Apple or Google under that provider's own privacy terms. The QR code is an opaque credential and does not contain your email address or current balance.

Retention

While a card has value, we retain the recipient information needed to deliver and support it. Twenty-four months after a card reaches a zero balance or is voided, identifying information is anonymized. Non-identifying financial ledger and audit records may be retained for accounting, reconciliation, fraud prevention and legal obligations.
